Book of the Centuries Club - The Perpetual Preacher

In teaching people the Bible or training new leaders, we find literature to be one of the most effective and useful tools we have. Obviously the Bible is our primary text book and we make certain every new Christian has a Bible and knows how to study it and make good use of what he or she learns. That is our beginning and it remains our constant point of reference. Every church in Colombia has a stock of Bibles to sell at subsidized prices so that everyone can have his or her own copy. We use the Bible and refer to it constantly in all teaching and preaching and we encourage the believers to check the scriptures as we quote from them.

But along with the Bible we use other literature as well. We produce Sunday school material for the children and lesson commentaries for the adults. We write or translate leadership training books as well as advanced books such as theologies and commentaries. With all of this literature, the market is so small that each project requires subsidies in order to make them available and accessible to the Colombian Christians. I do some of the writing and translation myself as a ministry and I attempt to get others involved as well. We check each other’s work to insure the quality of the finished product. But once the project has been written or translated, we need to get it into print.

Unless we can publish these materials, we cannot use them. Literature has the great advantage in that is the perpetual preacher. The Bible or a theology book can be present to teach whenever the student has needs, interests, or time. He or she can refer back to it at a later date or when there is a felt need. The reader can share their discoveries with others and the knowledge becomes their own through discovery. Books can continue to teach long after the missionary has left the scene.

We have felt a special need for college level material with the Bible college program. Many of the books we must use are produced by churches with a strong Calvinistic doctrine. Yet they are the only college level text books available. So we have felt a strong need for high quality text books that are also Biblically solid in their orientation. But if we go to the effort to translate and write such books, we must be able to publish them.

That is where the Book of the Centuries comes in and that is where you can be a part of this vital ministry. As we write and translate Christian teaching materials, you can also be a part of this vital ministry by providing for the publication and distribution of Bibles and other collateral materials. Join the Book of the Centuries Club and partner with us in providing a perpetual preacher for many homes in Colombia and the rest of Latin America. Make a special donation to our Christian literature fund and you are automatically enrolled as a member of our Book of the Centuries Club.
